I know its a bit early to start thinking about this, but I want to start setting aside money in a specific account now, not three monthes from now. I am currently living overseas but I'd like to sponsor a family back home in the United States. I want to avoid being swindled. Are their websites that could match me up with a needy family? Or can I simply pick a family from the list here (I assume that there will be new posts for this coming Chistmas) and post a reponse that includes my email address? I would only be able to send gifts though the mail, is that okay? Thank you for any advice!

Hello Erica!
I'm sending you an e-mail but here are a few simple things to remember: 1- Never send money to the families. Gift cards are wonderful. Ask the person your sponsering what supermarkets, clothing stores, video stores, etc., are in their area. This makes it so much easier for the family. 2- Never but expensive gifts. Example: Gameboys, PSP's, i-pod's.......Always ask for their needs. Most families want only the essentials for a simple Christmas. 3- This should be #1, be careful who you choose. Though we can never tell who is lying or not, we have gut instincts. Use them!!! 4- have a limit of how much money/ how many gifts per family. Or buy a couple gifts for the entire family. Come back often checking the board. if you want a certain state to sponser someone, type out a short resume of where you would like to adopt.
