does anyone know if i start to make recipes in a jar to sell at craft shows, etc. do i have to have special licensing from the states i sell in. i tried contacting the 2 state depts. that i would be selling in but neither one seemed to know. the states would be minnesota and idaho. thanks!!!!

I know this is an old post, but you do have to watch out for licensing and stuff like that. I am not sure what all the rules are, but I did check out what I would have to do to make homemade soaps, and stuff like that and there are rules for that. I think anything that has to do with food, you will have to ask the local Health Department about some of the regulations. Some states require a food handlers card and commercial kitchen (if you are at home then you would have to have a kitchen that could be sanitized easily and there are special rules for home based food businesses). The health department could give you more information.

are you selling the recipes or the product in the jars?
If it's just the recipes you need a tax id number? if it's the product you need a tax id number AND a license for the kitchen that you will be making it in. |
