Cold water laundry soap

I saw a post somewhere but there was no reply. So I am asking again..
I am new here and I am a very frugal shopper but I need advice on the laundry soap. I have a front load washer and use cold water to wash...I tried the powder soap before but it didn't seem to disolve real well. Is it because of the size of the grate? Or is it that the fels neptha soap is better in hot water... OR because I need to do the liquid version?

I am interested in making my own laundry soap, but I need to know if it is safe for septic tanks first.

Also, we have hard water here. Is there anything I need to do different with the laundry soap to keep clothes from turning gray or dingy? Would vinegar in the rinse work? Or could I add it to the laundry soap? How much would I need to use?

... said it would gel after sitting for 24 hours, but it never did. It does not suds at all. I'm still using it and it works okay, but I wonder what I did wrong. I followed the recipe exactly - except I used Kirk's Hardwater Castile because I couldn't find any Fels Naptha locally.

1/3 Bar Fels Naptha Soap, Grated
1/2 Cup Washing Soda

to start off with, I am new to this forum concerning the home made laundry detergent, I made my first batch the other day and after 24 hours it was still thin, nearly a liquid state, but still used it and it worked fine, it has now started to thicken as it has set for a couple more days, my main question is this; can you use liquid bleach with this product? one other thing, I found all the products to make this detergent at a kroger shopping store and was greatful since I had looked...

Hi!

I just got a new LG HE Front Loading washer and dryer to replace the 13 year old top loading ones I got when I moved into my first home. I am very interested in making my own detergent -- first and foremost to save money and 2nd to save the environment. My washer has a pull out drawer to put the detergent in and I use VERY little HE detergent. I also have hard water.

I am wondering which detergent others have used that works best for HE Front Loading washers and...

Can you use the liquid detergent on wool items? Your not suppose to use washing soda for wool but it is so diluted in 2 gallons will it really hurt anything?
